A very attractive beaded bandolier of Native American decent with field of blue beads with a prominent yellow and red falcon (rare to see bandolier with animal or bird). Sides decorative with geometric yellow and red beaded designs. Blue cloth back and leather fringe with glass beads. It is beyond our expertise to identify which tribe or region this bandolier origination. Dates to the 1st half 20th century.

Sioux Beaded Bags. Most of Sioux beadwork bags is carried out using lazy stitch. Before the use of glass beads, the Sioux used porcupine quills to decorate clothing, including bags. They were dyed using vegetable dyes until around 1880 when aniline dyes were traded.

Most beadwork was geometrical although some pictorial beadwork can also be found as found in some of the tobacco bags shown below.
