Pictorial Beaded Bags

Some of the most collectible bags and purses are pictorial beaded bags. These were made in both America and Europe and each had their own styles. European bags would often be made using micro beads and would often depict scenery. They were mainly evening purses and would be delicate. Some would close with drawstring while others would have metal clasps. Native American bags were usually larger and more practical. They would often be used to carry tobacco and medicine. Scenes would often have animals in them such as horses and deer.

Below are some examples and price guides of pictorial beaded bags including a Great Lakes bandolier bag and a European purse with a coastal scene.
