ARAGONITE MOSAIC PURSE Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic Late 19th/early 20th Century From the renowned spa town of Karlsbad, Czech Republic (Karlovy Vary), this purse was probably purchased as a souvenir item by a German tourist on holiday visit to the geothermal therapeutic baths. The case is inlaid with the German word Karlsbad and is decorated with floral and foliate motifs within a scalloped border of banded aragonite. Framed by black enamel it is inlaid with mother-of-pearl it has a leather backing and chrome fittings.
